Montecristo Espada
The Montecristo Espada is a groundbreaking collaboration between Montecristo’s elite Grupo de Maestros and the legendary tobacco grower Nestor Plasencia. With unrestricted access to Plasencia’s renowned tobacco library and state-of-the-art factory, the Grupo de Maestros crafted a blend unlike any other Montecristo before it. The result? A Nicaraguan puro overflowing with flavor, complexity, and refinement that honors the Montecristo legacy while bringing a bold, fresh twist.
Meaning “sword,” the Espada is draped in a stunning 2010 Habano wrapper from Jalapa, Nicaragua, delivering smoothness and elegance. Beneath the surface lies a carefully selected blend of aged Nicaraguan long-fillers from Jalapa, Ometepe, and Condega, each contributing its distinct strength, flavor, and body. The result is a medium to full-bodied cigar that delights with rich, hearty notes of wood, pepper, coffee, cream, nuts, and a subtle sweetness. Layered and refined, the Espada offers a luxurious smoking experience with incredible balance and complexity.
Awarded a 92-rating and named one of the Top 25 Cigars of 2015 (#20 overall), it was celebrated for its “spice of a gingersnap with touches of cinnamon that build to a sweet, spicy finish.”
