The La Palina 1948 was created as a commemorative release celebrating the 75th birthday of La Palina chairman Bill Paley. Introduced at the 2023 PCA Trade Show, the cigar brings La Palina together with Oliva, with production taking place at the Tabolisa factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The blend combines an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. This combination gives the 1948 a balanced Nicaraguan foundation while allowing the Sumatra wrapper to contribute additional sweetness and spice.

The flavor profile develops around cedar, vanilla-like sweetness, soft pepper, and baking spices. Rather than being built around overwhelming strength, the 1948 focuses on balance and gradual flavor development, giving the anniversary release a refined character that fits its commemorative purpose.
